Simply a 5 star experience. Amazing food. Beautiful location. Excellent service. Nothing else needs to be said. There's nowhere better in CT for authentic German food I've only ever eaten here so I cant comment on the inn

I had a wonderful stay at this lovely inn overlooking beautiful Lake Waramug. The staff at the inn exceed expectations with their warm hospitality. The view from the inn and the rooms is breathtaking. The inn has several inviting spots to sit and enjoy a meal or drink including the outside patio, the pub and the dining room which have views of the lake. We went there with my son who had fractured his ankle and the managers were so incredibly warm and accommodating. A few steps away is the Hopkins Winery where we enjoyed live music, delicious wine and delicious charcuteries! I wish I could have stayed here for a week!! Can’t wait to go back.

Beautiful, traditional New England Inn overlooking Lake Waramaug in a quiet and very scenic part of Connecticut. Staff is very friendly. Simply decorated but comfortable rooms have great views of the water. There's also access (10 minute walk or 2 minutes drive) to their sand beach for swimming in the cool, Crystal clear water. Restaurant has varied menu and many well prepared entrees. Sort of all American cuisine. Moderately priced and cozy. The "snowball" is a vanilla ice cream scoop rolled in coconut flakes -- very popular. Place gets lots of repeat visitors. Not particularly kid friendly. Too quiet.

We ate dinner there with some family members and really enjoyed it. My husband is Austrian and that's what attracted us to go. They have several Austrian specialties on the menu. It was all delicious!

I surprised my notoriously picky, German wife for this Austrian restaurant after a local hike. And surprise surprise she loved her Veal Kidneys Dijonase and I loved my Chicken Cordon Bleu. And if it wasn’t for the two 6.75 beers, our bill would have been a little more than ordering two giant Jersey Mike’s sub sandwiches! Great value for our money. And did I mention great views from the outdoor deck? See pics! As a bonus, we got to meet the owner who was very gracious and friendly. Go on a weekday to beat the crowds because food this great, word must get around! Five Stars!

Our party of 4 had a wonderful lunch at the Hopkins Inn terrace restaurant -- didn't sleep here. The food is fabulous and the service is superior. It was a perfect weather day so overlooking Lake Waramag was wonderful.

This place is a treasure. Set on a hill overlooking the gorgeous lake this inn is a few hundred years old. It feels like you are in Germany or Austria. Even the staff dresses up. The food is outstanding either way many European options. Like I said, it doesn’t feel like Connecticut. Amazing!!
